Biography

Began painting in my early twenties, but family and teaching career intervened until I took early retirement in 1997. Went watercolour painting in various nearby locations until 2008 when I joined professional artist Julia Christie in her Stroud Garden Studio group until she left for Skye. Her help and tuition inspired and broadened my horizons. I now paint mainly landscapes in oils or acrylics, capturing scenes from walks in wild, coastal areas as well as from the beautiful valleys around my home on the outskirts of Stroud, Gloucestershire. I like to paint on 3mm mdf board which I can cut to any size, mixing colours straight from the tube without any additives.
