Sylvia Evans

Biography

Sylvia Evans. I am mainly a self taught artist, though I did spend a year at Rochdale School of Art in the late 1950’s. I was then made to get a “Proper Job” by my father, so I spent the next few years in a nursing career. I married and had a family, just picking up a pencil to amuse my children on occasion.  Then in the late 1980s I was an ex pat wife in Hong Kong with time to play.  I joined an untutored life drawing class, and a Chinese brush painting group (though I never got beyond Bamboo).  I have had three solo exhibitions in north Wales venues; I have exhibited in Y Capel Llangollen by invitation. Patchings Art Festival Nottinghamshire. The Royal Cambrian Conwy, Theatre Clwyd in Mold and corporate offices in Chester. I have paintings in private collections in the U K, U S A, Hong Kong, Greece and Australia. I spent some time with a small charity “Families for Children Zambia” working in compounds in both Lusaka and Ndola in Zambia, with pots of paint, brushes and paper and hoards of very deprived and vulnerable children having fun with art.
