I started to paint again in 2016, following a 30 year hiatus. I left art college in 1986 after obtaining a degree in Art & Design at Bradford College. For the following 30 years I worked as an interior designer and my drawing and painting work consisted of no more than 3D renderings and perspectives for clients!
In 2008 I moved down to Cornwall, promising my self I would pick up my paint brushes again - and I finally did in January 2016, when I enrolled on a part time acrylics painting course at Truro College.
Since then I have become a member of St Ives Arts Club, and regularly attend their Monday afternoon painting & sketching sessions.
In November 2017 I joined a women's art collective called Taking Space, whose aim is to exhibit and promote women's art in Cornwall.
Inspiration for my work comes from the rich Cornish landscape we are surrounded by, from the beautiful coastal sea views, and the rugged tin mine ruins and mining trails.
I often venture out on my bike, armed with sketchbook and camera, and take photos and then work on quick sketches from the surroundings. I follow this up by composing my paintings for acrylics.
