Biography

Hello everyone! I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a self taught painter and started painting in the early 1990s after a visit to Edinburgh’s National Portrait Gallery in Princes Street. I started off using watercolour but because I had no idea how to use them my first attempts were completely wrong, until I chanced upon Channel 4’s ‘A Brush with Art’ featuring Alwyn Crawshaw. I moved to Dubai from London in the mid-90s, a move that disrupted my creativity. I gave up painting because my head was not in the right place. I lost my inspiration. So I‘m returning to art after years of being on again, off again. I mostly paint in watercolour. But occasionally I have added charcoal and pastel pencils, sometimes mixing 3 mediums together. Most recently I’m having a go at digital art using an App I download and that has been fun. I would also like to have a go at acrylics too. I usually paint traditional landscapes of Britain, and occasionally Dubai and the odd still life. I’ve also been having a go at caricatures. A few months ago, I spent 2 weeks in Veitnam’s Ho Chi Minh City so some of my sketches are of Saigon’s street scenes which I will upload when I have completed them. I hope you find my works interesting, and please feel free to get in touch as I welcome all feedback to improve my work. I felt quite intimidated when posting my pieces on here because everyone here is so talented. Some of my works are for sale and I am open to commissions. But most of all I look forward to making artistic friends. Thank you for all the lovely comments I have received so far.
