After my big O birthday fell flat, a bit like a damp squib (!) a friend suggested that instead I pain to achieve a number of things over the next 12 months. So, I have challenged myself to complete six different paintings; subject that I wouldn't normally go for and mediums I don't usually use! I have just completed my first, which is a sea scape set on Jersey. The light was wonderful although I didn't realise quite how dramatic as I took the photo on my phone and was facing the sun - however, the outcome was very pleasing and the painting a pleasure. My next challenge is a still life, something I haven't done since school. This I aim to paint first in watercolour (my preferred medium) and then in acrylic. Fingers crossed.
