Mike Duffett Profile

Amateur watercolour artist who unfortunately has to paint for a purpose! I really like to do birthday cards or special occasion cards with a scanned painting on the cover. This can be for family, friends or colleagues. Each painting hopefully reflects the recipients interests or recent adventures. I have exhibited some of my paintings at work and at a christmas charity cafe in Rugby where I have been successful in selling a few for charity donations. I solely work from photographs because I have a full time job. The challenge of painting outdoors is still to come!

I have always had a keen interest in the appearance of the environment around us and taking photographs of landscapes and buildings. My interest in painting started in the late 1980s when work pressures were beginning to overheat! I attended a six evening art class and watercolours seemed to be easy to use and easy to clean and I quickly got the bug. This bug has stayed with me consistently for the last thirty years. For me watercolours provide me with all I need to achieve something constructive and creative in my leisure time. I have found over the years that I can use my interest and enjoyment in doing paintings to improve my inter-action with colleagues at work and elsewhere in giving to each person a very personal 'gift' unique to them and specifically for them which they can relate to. We all have different skills and I am simply trying to show my interest in this type of leisure time activity with others as one way to show genuine friendship and interest in their journey through life.
