Excitement and disappointment

Excitement and disappointment

It is what life of Artists is made of!

I have many times talked with artists feeling they will never go anywhere with entries in shows or competitions. Well guys, it is a tough world out there and it is not for the faint hearted!. These last few years, I have been lucky but I have had my moments of disappointment too. A proof I am human :D I was not surprised when my work was not chosen for Patchings. I do not think I match the style. But Ho joy! one of my paintings was chosen for the grand beautiful show of the International Society Acrylic Painters, judged by the grand artist in Acrylic Steven Quiller. He explained how he chose the paintings: "I looked carefully and was open to paintings that took me a bit deeper and also looked for an overall body of work that would present a well-balanced acrylic exhibition. Acrylic is a versatile medium and can be expressed in many different ways and on different supports. However, most importantly, the medium should serve the statement; the technique and approach to the medium should serve the personal nature and expression of the work." http://www.isap-online.com/7th_online_gallery/gallery.html They surely have made my day.!

Thank you Paul for your wise words :0) Thank you so much Sylvia for your ongoing support :) x Adele, we are living in a new age where Internet gives up incredible opportunity. We must take advantage of it. Even not being able to carry on as I did as an artist. I still can paint, exhibit by entering my work online, as most societies now accept digital files. All works entered are being sent with Parcelforce that comes to my door to collect them. Isn't brilliant? Oh yes, painters produce an incredible array of styles and composition. There is so much excitement in Art!

Thankfully nowadays we can show our art without leaving our homes Beatrice - so carers, like yourself and those who are unfortunately housebound don't have to miss out. Thank goodness for sites like this one. I love looking at the Gallery - didn't think I would love so many different types of paintings! From what I hear, sometimes competitions are unfair and can be a little soul-destroying.

Delighted for you Beatrice, I always enjoy looking at your work.

For anyone who rejects your work, view it as their loss and their problem not yours

So very nice of you Adele to comment on my Blog. :) You are right, we are thousands out there. I personally do not do competitions. Most of them are too unfair. However, I try to have my paintings accepted for exhibitions as I am now a carer and can no longer spend my time travelling to create my own exhibitions. So, one painted accepted is a real big bonus!

Very well done Beatrice, you should be extremely proud. Sorry about your disappointment but, as you say, it is a tough old world out there. Some artists don't bother with competitions and like to paint just for themselves or perhaps, to sell. With such a lot of fantastic artists out there, competition is extremely hard.
