Tewkesbury Art Society

We are an art group of mixed abilities. We welcome everyone to try and see if art is indeed for them before joining. We are a friendly bunch, with always someone on hand to help with advice etc.

Tewkesbury Art Society was formed back in 1965 and has come a long way since.

We have over 55 members at the moment.

Two exhibitions are held per year. Summer Exhibition in July and Winter Exhibition in December. Both prove to be very successful most years.

At same time as the summer exhibition there is what we call The Walking Exhibition now in its third year and very successful. This is where members of TAS are allocated one or two shop windows where they can exhibit one or two of their paintings which can be for sale or not. Most years be have been blessed with over 60 shops willing to take part, this also runs along side " Tewkesbury In Bloom". TAS has been blessed with good reviews each year.

We have a strong committee of eleven enthusiastic people. Weekly meetings are held on Tuesdays where we meet for either own painting or for a demonstration by various artists . . . It is the purpose of TAS to offer demonstrations in ALL mediums and subjects including Life drawing. These prove very popular.

There are refreshments available and the hall is disabled friendly.

On demonstration days entrance is £5.00 for Non members. Although no parking allowed at the Church, there are two pay and display car parks near by.

From end of May through to end of August, demonstrations are replaced by taking to the great outside and fresh air,for out door painting. We enjoy visiting beautiful houses, gardens , Gloucester docks, and other places of interest. Also in and around our own beautiful town with its black and white Tudor and Elizabethan houses, its unique and lovely alleyways dating back hundreds of years, also not forgetting our amazing and beautiful Abbey and grounds, The Abbey celebrates its 900th year in 2021, so you see we are spoilt for choice for out door painting.

We are really blessed and spoilt for choice Tewkesbury has two rivers the Severn and Avon which gives the choice to paint and sketch the wildlife who make these beautiful areas their home.

TAS is open to all but we are mostly retired although we do have two members in their 20`s. our eldest members are 97 and 94. So as you can see age is no problem.
