Trudy attained her teaching degree at Brighton College of Art, after studying at art college in Canterbury. She taught up to A'Level GCE in seondary and technical high schools, as well as evening classes for adults. For 12 years she and her husband ran art holiday courses in Devon, before relocating to Chepstow, Monmouthshire.

Trudy now runs Easter Art Breaks at The Royal George Hotel, Tintern, Monmouthshire as well as offering private instruction and tuition by post.

Trudy is a contributor to Leisure Painter and her first instructional art book - Drawing Problems and Solutions (published by David & Charles in 2001) - was based on her popular series in the magazine.

She has now written 7 books for David & Charles: Drawing, Watercolour, Landscapes, Animals, Flowers, The Ultimate Drawing and Painting Technique Bible and Drawing Complete Question & Answer Handbook (published August 2011). Illustrations in these books demonstrate the eight basic stroke applications which she uses for all subjects, in both dry and water-soluble media. Visit her website for more information.
