SKETCH OPEN 2017, a prize which aims to promote the diversity and the role of the sketchbook in contemporary fine art practice, is calling for entries.

SKETCH OPEN 2017, a prize which aims to promote the diversity and the role of the sketchbook in contemporary fine art practice, is calling for entries. The competition is open to both UK and international artists and the sketchbooks will be judged by a panel of three selectors who represent the perspectives of writer, practitioner and curator. Approximately 100 sketchbooks will be chosen to take part in a touring exhibition and will also be eligible for a number of prizes.

Deadline for submissions is 5pm on March 27, 2017.

  • Rabley Print Editioning Prize
  • Black Swan Arts Solo Exhibition Prize
  • Plymouth College of Art Student Prize (Artists Access to Art Colleges award that gives a career boost with access to studios and facilities)
  • Lancaster Arts Prize - For early career artist - artist to be selected from Sketch17 by Sarah Casey, Gerry Davies and Lancaster Arts. £500 commission and two portfolio sessions to support development of practice.
