Gallery - Watercolour - Poppy heads

Poppy heads - Watercolour

I love the dried poppy heads that I found in my garden. They were small but when I drew them, I enlarged them enormously. I used wet in wet technique with a limited palette and I added lots of transparent layers to build up the tone and texture.

I like them too... shows how much richness can be obtained from a limited palette.

I like this painting very much. All those layers have paid off very well.

All my paintings are around 30 x 40 cms,I usually work larger and then I cut them down when I'm mounting and framing the work. Thankyou all for the positive comments.
