  • I like the interplay of light and shadow - looks like they were out in the midday sun!

  • Oil? Acrylic? It always helps to know, and the size too - sorry to be demanding! But it does all help to get a better understanding of the piece; which in this case - and however it's painted and whatever size it is - is excellent.

  • Gouache on Hahnemuhle watercolour paper 200lbs, 24x32 cm. Unlike transparent watercolour I find I can do more in the shadows. My main difficulty at the moment is getting a light colour with high chroma without it looking milky. Any advice on this would be welcome. Thanks to those who commented on the piece.

  • Lots to see and take in in this one Philip and I like the intricacy of the pattern in the shirt on the right. Typical gouache tones that produce a sort of flatness - I know what you mean about colours looking milky.

  • I love the sunny colours in this well balanced painting. The way the eye is lead into the distance by the diagonal pattern of people, really great composition.

  • This is one you can look at and find something different to admire every time, Philip.
