Plein air monochromes done a couple of years ago on a painting weekend with Haidee-Jo Summers. Always reminds me of her saying 'tone does all the work but colour gets all the credit'. I'll try to do some more and post them. I've been experimenting with greys recently so it might be an interesting exercise. Who would have thought what you can get from Viridian and Alizarin?!
I seem to recall it was a bright sunny day with the sun on my board and I think I understated the tonal contrasts...and too much white in the mixes!
