I've honestly never taken a selfie pic/photograph in my life, not a single one. Any photgraphs of me (not a totally massive amount) have always been taken by someone else. Not too long ago my old faithful pc with X.Professional installed, gave up the ghost almost overnight. Not being a modern technical wizard I lost everything on it. I'm also not a varied user of much more than a few favourite sites and forums so it wasn't a total tragedy. One good thing I had done already, was to save a long family document on Word and send it to myself as an e-mail attachement. I was/am thus able to access my e-mail address from anywhere and view the saved document at will. A useful tip to anyone not knowing it. ...I hope. 😆

I am so glad that you were able to save your family document Jim. Really important. Is it worth getting a geek to see if more can be saved from your defunct computer? Sometimes that can be done. Also didn't you buy it quite recently? I seem to remember you were having a few teething probs with it.
Therein lies a warning for us all. The cost of an external USB hard drive to keep stuff backed up is less than the weekly supermarket session. My last dead hard drive with ten years-worth of holiday photos, music (including recordings of me playing), and all my Tax stuff had to go to a specialist who does "that sort of thing" for various Police forces. It cost me £540 - that's more than my Number 2 Concert Guitar - as well as the cost of a new pc.
