Can all you arty people answer a simple question for me please. I really want to know how you pronounce 'Gouache'. Now do you say 'Gwash' or is it 'Gooash'. I have heard it called both but I'm sure some on here will put me right!!
I say Gooash . .....you say Gwash . Let’s call the whole thing off 😊
It's a French word, of course - and a mix between goo-ash and gwash, which is handy isn't it? The thing to avoid is accenting either syllable, but the 'a' should be long - giving you a pronunciation something like 'gouaash', in one smooth syllable. Now, I want you to practise this in front of a mirror until you have it right. Savour the word, as one does with French; make it sound like a dollop of cream sliding into a bowl.... Try waggling the eyebrows, and use a phrase like "Would you care for some gouache, my dear?" One has to get in the mood; identify with the word... I do hope this was helpful (tee hee).
LOL Sylvia!!
