Hi everybody, I'm new here. Nice to meet everyone. I hope you can help me with this: I'm looking for a painting of a black rat on a blue background, from the 90's. I found it on google at one point, but I lost the artist's name and can't find it anymore, I'm desperate, my long hours of searches didn't take me anywhere. Thank you so much !
Strange tastes you have....Robert will no doubt see this post and possibly know , he is our resident rat person. Have just Googled Painted rat on blue backgroubpnd and looked at Images , quite lot of stuff turned up. I have a mouse problem at the moment they keep on coming to stay with me. Maybe I could send some of them your way...no charge , just postage .
Afraid, despite Sylvia's confidence, that I don't know the painting. Black rat on blue background - doesn't sound immediately appealing to be honest, but then you get an image in your mind's eye which may have nothing to do with the actual work. However: pay me enough and I'll paint you a black rat against a blue background - I've no shame! We start at £100 when we're feeling exceptionally generous.......... depending on medium. Don't all rush at once.
I don't know of the painting, but this is giving me flashbacks to last Sunday. Came home, strode into the living room only to find a huge dead rat in the middle of the living room floor with the cats sat on the sofa just looking at it. Yuck. Good luck finding the painting.
Syliva - you can borrow my black cat Poppy - she seems to have got a taste for cat and could no doubt down grade to mice!
Well - you don't want a rat in the living room. One might have escorted it outside, but one can't really expect a cat to do that. Or, in my landlord's case, a border terrier to permit them to live. Sad, I've always thought - one can surely live with the occasional rodent? Too many however - no. No, perhaps not (pity: I like rats - smooth, furry, lovable, affectionate - one should make room for a rat in one's life). And of course one really doesn't want a cat .... Anyway, I've painted rats, including my own favourite pet, The Great Ralph (TM) all rights reserved... I love rats: but don't really want the little charmers coming through the lathe and plaster walls, as one did one fateful night. Still - negotiation with him, or her, a few kind words, caused him/her to leave. Intelligent critters..... how one misses them.
Yes, but who can afford Banksy? Whereas I ..... well, I hate to tout for business. So vulgar. (Look, I'll do you a job lot - magnificent tails and all. Roll up and get yours 'ere - snap 'em up, or they'll be gone! LUVLY Christmas present!) You may sense two voices here; one my restrained self, the other my mercenary side...
I can't resist, really enjoying this thread. Robert, have you thought of acquiring a pair of what they call "fancy rats"? (You shouldn't keep one on its own, they are sociable critters). Said to be intelligent and affectionate, and come in such pretty colours. There is a shop called "Animates" next to where I go for my lessons, they occasionally have some, and I've been allowed to have one sitting on my hand to stroke. They're not long lived unfortunately. And I read somewhere they like Baileys Irish Cream! Sylvia, I love your black cat pic. I am "cat woman" myself, if I had an animal companion it would be a cat.
Kept fancy rats for a good many years - and The Great Ralph (TM) all rights reserved, was indeed very fond of Bailey's Irish Cream; and just about any other alcoholic drink: he would hide behind the sofa when we had a drink, and if one of us put the glass down on the floor, zip out, push it over, and guzzle the booze before it sunk into the carpet. He made it to 3 years plus, so it didn't seem to do him any harm: but yes, sadly, they're not with us for long enough, which is why I stopped keeping them - just as you really bonded with them, they would sicken and die. Sob. Jack Daniels was his favourite......
The Great Ralph sounds to have been a lot of fun. A great pity they're so short lived.
We thought we had mice so we got two kittens who were cute and nice.....they have since grown up and are rascals.
Only his mother could love him (if she wore glasses, too).
