acceptances and rejections . . .

oh well, got to the semi-final of the National Art Competition, then rejected at the last post! Rejected for Royal Scottish Academy Open in Edinburgh. Now I have to get back up to Edinburgh from here in Yorkshire to pick up the painting. Hard chips eh?
Nevertheless on the positive front -- two out of three selected for Doncaster Open and one at Haworth Open -- all fairly near at hand.
Think I'll give up submissions for a while -- too expensive, too much travel, and can put me on a downer if I get too many rejections . . . Must keep positive and keep painting, following my heart not my head.

It's ten to midnight and I'm putting finishing touches to small aqua gold series of paintings for charity show coming up next week . . . This one's called Ice & Water -- they're all about time, life, death . . . the usual happy stuff!

Love doing wee paintings -- palette knife, gold leaf, watercolour, acrylic on Bockingford or Langton . .. Ace! Only thing is the drilling holes and cording up -- have to do that tomorrow a.m.

Just finished reworking old painting "Misty Shore" -- new glazes, new colours, new approach - for submission to Scotland Charity Auction to raise money for a school in Tanzania.

made my way to Doncaster Art Gallery today to enter 3 works into their annual open show. Then went another 15 miles to deliver a work to Picture Post for my entry to the Chichester Open. This has cost me a lot in mileage, £17 for Picture Post, £9 entry fee for the Open etc etc etc And I may not even get in!!

But hey, we gotta keep trying . . . .
