Paul Ferraby

Biography

Paul Ferraby, full time working painter, studied at Farnham Art School, now University for Creative Arts Farnham (UCA), in the early seventies. I love the restraints of a 2D framed area to paint in with oil paint. My real interests are landscapes and still life - but with a looseness to the approach, leaving the viewer with a bit of work to do. I think we in the UK are so blessed with the rich variety of subjects, from wild Scotland, to the Lake District, to coastal views, to the rolling Downs in the South. My favourite artists are Peter Wileman, Joan Eardley and Fred Cumings. And of course Turner. I think Turner or Dame Laura Knight first woman member of the R.A. and the official artist at the Nurenburg Trials would be my first choice to be represented on the forthcoming £20 note.
