Mark Prescott

Biography

I have enjoyed painting and drawing since I was a child. My grandfather was an amateur artist and first introduced me to oil paints. I still have one of the early attempts I made at about the age of 9 or 10 years old. My father drew, mainly pen & ink (he produced pictures for the cover of his local parish magazine for many years) but also used to dabble in acrylics. Both of them instilled a great interest in all things artistic. I greatly admire the work of Van Gogh and also the French impressionists, especially Monet, Sisley and Cezanne. I also like the paintings, drawings and prints of the Arts and Crafts movement as well as the work of MC Escher. Art has become much more important since retiring and am enjoying combining different media.
