LEONIDAS PAPASAVVAS

Biography

Leonidas Papasavvas was born in Pano Amiantos(Cyprus) in 1947.He is married and has two children.He lives and works in Cyprus.He got a diploma in the NTUA in Athens of Greece. He is a Member of EKATE (Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts) and of the I.A.A..He studied painting in the King Richard School of Arts in Dhekelia(1987-1990)under the English Painter Michael Westall.He got also long training under the Cypriot Painters Telemachos Kanthos, Lefteris Economou and Keti Stefanidou. The Artist's work has appeared in 9 solo exhibitions as well as in several group exchibitions of EKATE Cyprus. At the Pancyprian Art Competition in Cyprus,organised by the University of Cyprus, he won the 1st prize in Painting (2010) and praise in Painting(2008). He also won two prizes at the Pancyprian Competition Maniera Cypria (2011) and 3rd prize at the Pancyprian Competition of the Cyprus Olympic Committee(2012). The Artist's work is inspired by the beautiful landscapes of Cyprus and Greece,as well as by other subjects or scenes of beauty taken from everyday life.For the Artist , it is important that beauty be seised and appreciated from all of its dimensions and in all its magic ,as seen from the eyes of the soul and of the heart rather than of the logical part of the mind.
