Biography

[email protected] As a child Janet attended art classes on a Saturday morning and continued with the same art tutor until the age of 19 years. This tutor loved drawing figures and passed this love onto Janet, whose work became very illustrative. Work in service hospitals as a welfare officer took over for a while and painting was a 'now and then' pursuit but, after training as a primary teacher in her late twenties she was introduced to portraiture, and started painting in a portrait group, continuing on and off up until the present day. Now retired she paints frequently, all subjects, and is lately influenced by the loose and expressive paintings of Hashim Akib and has attended many of his workshops. She exhibits in Bexhill, Battle and Alfriston in East Sussex and sells cards from her paintings.
