Caitriona Osborne

Biography

Caitriona Osborne, Artist’s Statement Seeing the Ordinary Transformed: Visions of the Everyday The everyday world around us communicates life and beauty and truth. If we take the time to see we can be lifted out of our ordinary circumstances to see a positive hope. This requires looking up and facing outwards. The independence of modern living and our use of technology can leave us dry, fatigued with our own introversion. This can be a constant white noise that drowns out the external world, taking a toll on our spirits. We can become disheartened and discouraged, always comparing our lives to others. But we can be free, in fact, we are free, we have a choice, to unplug, free to take a walk, free to see the sky above us. The eternal is all around us if we have eyes to see it. Catching a vision of our own insignificance in the light of the world’s immensity, reduces our perceived problems and produces a genuine equality between people. My goal as an artist is to paint these moments in such a way that it enables others to pause, and see, and be free. Artist’s Bio Caitriona Osborne is a mainly self taught Artist. She believes that the study of Art is a lifelong pursuit and is constantly expanding her technique using any resources available. She has sold paintings both locally and internationally, and completed several private commissions. Caitriona Osborne was born in Belfast in 1982, but grew up in Limerick. She had a strong desire to create art from an early age and that was her main goal when starting playschool! She had watercolour lessons with Anne Fitzgerald while still at school. She originally studied Landscape Horticulture at UCD before returning to Limerick and completing an Art Certificate at LCFE. She then started a family which pushed her love of painting into the background temporarily. With all three of her children now in school, she is looking to expand her practice. A selection of small paintings is now available on my Etsy shop. https://www.etsy.com/ie/shop/TheCaitGallery.
