Adele Elgood

Biography

When I was a young girl my parents had a large mirror which had an etching of a "crinoline lady" on. I would spend hours copying this. In the 1960's when I was at Secondary school, I was told to give up painting and drawing as I was useless and would never be any good. Following these words of encouragement, I gave up and concentrated on other crafts, all the while yearning to be able to paint. My husband sent me on a weekend oil painting "taster" course and I was hooked. I've now embraced lots of different media - although I can't, as yet, get to grips with watercolour. However this will not stop me trying. I've wasted a lot of years not painting but I intend to make up for it!
