Watercolour and collage

Recently I have become very interested in mixed media, especially watercolour and collage. I have signed up for an online mixed media course. So far it looks really good, ideal if you are really busy as you can work on it when you have time. As I have a young daughter it is not so easy for me to attend courses locally during the evening. I am trying to build into my art schedule time to do experimental works, to use new techniques, mediums or subject matter to expand my creativity. I have recently posted online 'Mandarin ducks', a mixed media painting which uses newspaper, watercolour and pen. The starting point was a sketch done of two ducks in Richmond park, a long time ago. I created a background in watercolour and painted the ducks in watercolour. Afterwards I found newspaper to highlight parts of their plumage. Various shades of green newspaper were used for the background to suggest pond plants. Pen was used last to create dark areas and bring out the highlights on the birds plumage. More of my paintings can be seen online. I have a gallery on painters online, a facebook page and paintings on several online galleries including Rippingham Art online where I regularly sell paintings. I am also willing to undertake commissions.
