Unable to function creatively please help

I have been painting for several years now trying out Acrylics, water based Oils plus Watercolour & enjoy lots of different crafts jewelry making, metal wire trees, bottle lights, I love a challenge or should say Loved. My Mother died a year ago and since then I have been unable to enjoy the these activities. I have lost my imagination, creativity, my passion for Arts & Crafts. I would appreciate any help, words of wisdom . My Paintings & other creation have helped me through some tough time, I need to create...thankyou x

Some things take a while to come to terms with. It may be as 'simple' as that. You also seem to be a very sensitive person - a quality which often goes hand-in-hand with creativity - and you just need time. Your creativity will return at some point and in some form (though maybe not in the same form as before) because a creative person is always a creative person and ultimately you may be able to express what is causing you such difficulty now.

You are definitely not alone Chrissie. Quite a few of us on this site have found the same problems after a traumatic experience. Each experience is unique to that person but the result seems to be the same. You are a little lost and need to find your way again and this can definitely be done. If you are feeling depressed, I would suggest a trip to your doctor who should give you a course of antidepressants. This is nothing to panic about. It can take 2 - 3 weeks before you start to feel a little better. The creativity may take a little longer but you will get there. One day at a time. Don't think of what you can't do but concentrate on the little things you can do, however small - each step will get you back on the road to recovery. I speak from experience because I have suffered from bi-polar for the past 30 years and I never realised what a strong person I was. Good luck and perhaps we will see some of your work on this site before too long.
