ok, this feels a bit odd.
I am currently an itinerant art teacher on the isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. I am trying to paint more regularly and like many people find it extremely difficult to find the level of commitment, necessary to do really good work. Hopefully keeping this diary might help.

I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1982. Not with any great distinction and have always found it difficult to remain committed to painting. Why I don't give up I don't know. The painters online community often make encouraging comments, so lets see if the blog helps too.

Since January, I've tried to work for at least an hour a day. The pictures in my portfolio are the result. I'm fairly pleased with them. These studies are from photographs I took, but what I feel I should do now is to make on the spot drawings to work from in the studio. i think the results might have a bit more feeling.. we'll see.
