Red doors. - Watercolour

An alley way leading up to an old red in Arles. 29 x 12.5 cm on Arches Not. Wall in shadow and shadows caused me a lot of trouble, they always do !

They may cause a few problems but you always seem to come up trumps Avril, this is nice and I can see why so many painters lived and worked in Arles

Nothing wrong with those shadows Avril. I like the way you've 'inhabited' them!

Lovely painting - reminds me of my visit to Arles, but sadly I didn't see this beautiful red door. Great warmth in the colours of the walls and I think the wall in shadow has worked very well. I like the touch of the bike against the wall - makes the scene looked 'lived in'.

Great perspective and lovely format, I really feel I am walking down that alley out of the shadows into sunshine.

Shadows look great, beautiful scene as always Avril. I like the distant building too, good drawing. Thanks for your kind comment on my work, always appreciated.

They said it all, Avril. This is just stunning. I love the contrast between the sunshine and the shadow side of that alley. Beautiful.

Thank you very much for the lovely feedback from such talented painters. I hope this scene helps everyone to forget the rain and coming winter!

It's fabulous, Avril! Just love the colors and the composition, and you handled the wall, shadows and all, quite perfectly.
