Beautiful painting with bright colours, Shirley.

You posted this before the paint was dry! Very fruity and juicy! You certainly know how to use colour - I love the intensity you have achieved in his picture. One of the failings in the work of we who who paint as amateur watercolourists ie. those without the benefit of having had art tuition, is the failure to use sufficient pigment. I remember attending a workshop run by that great American artist, Don Stone, who looked at my palette , and said, “Squeeze out plenty of paint. I don’t want to see anything that resembles colourful hen droppings!” Mind you, it was an oil painting workshop.

Hello Denis, thank you. I think I am having a good investigation of strong pigment powders. Not always to my satisfaction. Love the hen droppings idea 😊 Talking of Americam artists, I've been reading "Webb on Watercolour" by Frank Webb. Very good!

Beautiful kaleidoscope of colour Shirley.

Gorgeous colours Shirley!

These beautiful colours caught my eye straight away. Lovely painting.

yes Shirley another beauty well done

Ooh I love your colours here, so striking Shirley!

I am very grateful for these nice comments, as I wasn't very happy with this, and didn't really know why. I think I was worried about how to use the powders on this one. Doesn't matter really, as it is all grist to the mill.

Wow! What a festival of colours Shirley! This has moved to number one now from you.

I love it it’s beautifully vibrant

Super colour Shirley. The centre piece holds the composition together beautifully.

A complicated collection of things this morning.
