Pondering the Sea at Weybourne
I painted this little study at the end of my afternoon by the sea at Weybourne. I've never painted a close-up of the sea like this before, so it was a leap in the dark for me. But those colours in the water were fascinating, and the repetitive but varied movements of the waves were great to try to capture. I also liked how the distant wind turbines caught the sun and brought a useful sense of scale to the composition. Fascinating subject.
