Scoters and sea swallows
Whatever the weather, the birds’ activity marks the changing seasons; the little terns have fledged, but they’re still here, the young birds waiting impatiently on the beach while the adults fish. Not long before they’ll be migrating to west Africa. The common scoters - little black sea ducks - are travelling back from their breeding grounds in the north but may end up off the Spanish coast. I rarely get a better view than these little black dots, low in the waves. Watercolour on Bockingford CP, 14 x10"
